Jelly Girl

The first of my 3 quilts is done! The pattern is "Jelly Girl" by Fig Tree. I had so much fun choosing these fabrics last Feb. in warm, sunny Florida. The quilt reminds me of our trip.
The fabrics are a combination of lines from Amy Butler, Heather Bailey. Patty Young and Sandi Henderson - some of my favorite modern designers. I chose to fussy-cut the Amy Butler border fabric to highlight the little bit of aqua blue in it. I even had to miter the corners.

The quilting is overall and I chose a swirly design. I think it fits the twirly look.

The backing is covered in colorful dots. Love it!

While in California, my daughter and I worked on lots of crafty projects. Visit her blog to see more!

August Schnibbles

For our August Shnibbles project, we were given a choice of doing "Short Story" or "Plan C" in the large or small sizes.I was a little worried about August as I planned on being gone a lot this month. I haven't missed a Schnibbles month yet and I really wanted to keep up my record. So I was thrilled when they chose "Short Story" as I had already cut it out and started the piecing to take on retreat. I also decided to use my Kate Spain "12 Days of Christmas" FQP to do "Plan C".

I got 2 Schnibbles done! I admit it - I really am an overachiever!

"Plan C" using 12 Days of Christmas

"Short Story" using Fandango

Filling In...

So, while you were viewing the "Quilt Show", these quilts were being quilted (not by me).
So this week I'll be binding and revealing the quilts one by one.

While you were viewing the show and the quilts were being quilted, I was hanging out with these fun kids. 10 months old and all she wants to do is walk.

And lots of swinging in the beautiful San Diego sunshine!

And lots of conversations that went something like this:
E: Nana, I'm hungry.
Nana: Well, I'll get you a snack. What would you like?
E: I wouldn't mind having a cookie. Really, I wouldn't mind.
I'm so copying that strategy! I wouldn't mind if you left a comment. Really, I wouldn't mind!
